Our Mission

Inspired by the Islands.

Nalu Health Bar is more than a café, it’s a family legacy built with heart and inspired by our island home. As surfers, parents, and long-time residents of Oʻahu, we share a deep connection to this island and a commitment to protecting it for our children and for yours.

Every choice we make, from the ingredients we source to the packaging we use, is guided by our responsibility to nourish our community while preserving the beauty of Hawai‘i.

Our Sustainability Commitments

  • People sharing colorful fruit bowls, salads, and wraps on a picnic table at the beach.

    Plant-Based Packaging

All takeout containers and service-ware are crafted from renewable, plant-based materials, never petroleum based plastics.

  • Hands holding a handful of soil with dust particles falling.

    Composting Initiatives

Through our partnership with the Kōkua Hawai‘i Foundation, over 500 pounds of food scraps are composted weekly at our North Shore location, transforming waste into nutrient-rich soil.

    Ocean & Beach Stewardship

We proudly support Kuleana Coral and Eco Mermaid Conservation, helping protect Hawai‘i’s reefs and beaches through fundraising, education, and community engagement.

Caring for Our Home

From day one, we’ve made sustainability a non-negotiable. To keep our islands thriving, we believe in taking intentional action — both big and small.

Supporting Local

Hawai‘i is rich with talent, creativity, and culture. We are proud to uplift the local makers and small businesses that make our islands vibrant.

What You’ll Find in Our Spaces

  • Local Art: From bright, bold pieces like Punky Aloha in Waikīkī to rotating works by local artists, our walls tell local stories.

  • Local Authors: We highlight books by Hawai‘i voices, including Ocean Ramsey and Andrea Hannemann (Plant-Based Paradise).

  • Community Goods: Stickers designed by our own team members and small-batch treats like locally roasted coffee and chocolate-covered espresso beans showcase the talent in our own backyard.

Supporting local isn’t a trend, it’s our kuleana.

Building Community

Community is the heartbeat of Nalu.
We believe in bringing people together to move, to create, to celebrate, and to give back.

From yoga sessions and beach cleanups to holiday events and creative workshops, our gatherings are designed to inspire connection and cultivate a sense of belonging. We’re grateful for the continued support of Waikīkī Beach Walk, Kailua Town, and Ward Village, whose partnerships help us expand our community impact across the island.
