Keiki & Kai is a free, family-friendly gathering created to celebrate the close of World Oceans Month with connection, creativity, and care for our coastline.
Bring the whole ‘ohana for a morning rooted in hands-on learning and meaningful fun.
We’ll begin with a short beach cleanup alongside Global Preservation Initiative, where keiki and parents can collect microplastics from the shoreline. These pieces will become part of our next activity, a guided plastic mosaic workshop. Using what you gather, along with additional reclaimed materials, each child will decorate a thrifted bowl or plate to create a special place for their favorite shells, rocks, and natural treasures.
It is also the perfect time to refresh your shelves at home. Our Keiki Swap invites families to bring gently used toys and books that are ready for a new adventure. Trade them for something “new to you” and keep the cycle of sharing going. Any unclaimed items will be donated children and schools impacted by the recent Oahu floods.
Step inside the Mālama Lounge at Kailua Beach Adventures for a wildlife education moment filled with images, insight, and practical ways to care for our marine ecosystems.
Ocean conservationist Carissa from Future Swell will also be on site, sharing knowledge about Hawaiʻi’s marine species and answering curious questions from keiki and parents alike.
And because no Kai gathering is complete without nourishing food, enjoy a complimentary meal from Nalu Health Bar.
Photography will be provided by Alex from PlanIt Branding, and all families will receive access to a shared photo gallery after the event.
Come craft, learn, swap, clean, and celebrate the ocean together.
This event is made possible by the help of Kailua Beach Adventures, Future Swell, Global Preservation Initiative, and PlanIt Branding
